Brad Baughan

 

    Brad was the first director of coaching hired by Crusaders soccer Club for the 84-85 seasons and was for many years. Brad has led his teams to 2 State Cup championships, a quarter-finalist National State cup and numerous quarters and brackets winners. Brad coached the first mainland team to win the Maui Cup Invitational, beating a team with 6 division 1 players on it, all his team were still in high school. Brad teams have countless tournament championships from Pegasus Cup, Huntington Beach, Southcoast Invitational, Las Vegas, Coronado, Knotts,(beat a team from England 3 times), Crusaders,and many others. 10 years coach at Patrick Henry high school, his teams made the playoffs every year, quarters or semi-finals. Currently at Valhalla high school, and has achieved 3 CIF championships, two finalist, quarters or higher every year for past 15 seasons. Brad was named the high school california coach of the year in 1999, and in the year 2000 was named the far western region of entire United States high school coach of the year, the honor was presented UCLA great coach John Wooden.
 
    Brad grew up playing soccer in San Diego and played for Patrick Henry High School and Grossmont College. Brad attended San Diego State but accepted a professional contract after two years at college. Brad was a member of the US indoor soccer team in 1984, and was drafted professionally by the Milwaulkee Wave, and then played for Hershey Pennsylvania Impact. Brad was also a member of the National Championship San Diego Sockers second team. Brad has been teaching at the Santa Sophia Academy for 15 years and coaching for over 25 years. He truly treasures giving back his experience and knowlegde to younger players and never plans to continue to do so.
