Future Stars Returns to CSC

Given the overwhelming success of the Future Stars program, Crusaders is proud to announce the program’s return. This year’s program will serve players born between the years of 2007 – 2010, boys and girls. Its purpose is to expose the recreational player to the competitive side of the game, in an environment of learning and fun.

The structure of the program will be a training session per week, where mechanics and the basic techniques of the game will be developed. On weekends, festivals will take place, where the players get to enjoy playing for the sake of the game and not be hindered by results or other sources of pressure. “For us as teachers of the game, it is of the outmost importance to return the game to the players and I believe this program accomplishes that premise” commented René Miramontes director of coaching for CSC. With over 35 years in the game at all levels, he knows what the younger player needs, in order to remain in the “beautiful game” for life.

Once again, under the direction of coach Erick Melendez, and equipped with a new and comprehensive training curriculum, this edition is expected to surpass the success that the program had under his leadership in year one. As he puts it: “I believe that working with players at the younger ages is critical. Teaching proper fundamentals at a younger age will certainly lead to success in a player’s soccer future”

Coach Melendez brings a wealth of knowledge to the program. A product of the Long Term Athlete Development model himself, he understands what the player needs at each stage, because he lived it. Melendez went through all the phases of development in soccer, from a youth player, to high school, Olympic development, collegiate player and now, in his latest stage of development, as a coach.

With his entire life devoted to the game, he not just understands what the players need and feel at the different stages in their development but as a National licensed coach, he knows how to transmit his experience and knowledge, in a pragmatic and deliberate manner.

Indeed, Crusaders is very fortunate to have such a young and experienced coach at the helm of such a vital program.

Age Appropriate Clinics Are Back

Based on last year’s success and once more under the direction of Crusaders ADOC, Victor Melendez, National top -level licensed coach, CSC is pleased to announce the return of the Age Appropriate Clinics.

In an effort to provide development opportunities at no cost to all players in our community, CSC began this program last year. The response by the community was fantastic, so they are back for 2016-17.
